Opened to the public in 1992, J-Bar Stables turned from an AQHA and Appaloosa breeding farm into a public trail riding and lesson facility, as was the dream of Co-Owner Dianne Justice. Dianne spent 35 years teaching elementary and middle school for the Green Local School District and wanted to combine her love of horses with her passion for teaching.

Dianne spent her youth riding barrels at the rodeo, having been the 1969 Frontier Riders Rodeo Queen before making the switch to Jumpers. She met her husband Bill around this time, and although he was a city boy, he soon developed a love for horses and began showing Western Pleasure.

Their daughter Sara began showing Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle in 1992. She switched to dressage in 1994 and hasn't looked back since, having competed in NAYRC Qualifying competitions, CDI's, Dressage at Devon, and the Wellington, Florida, circuit with her beloved Leelita (1993-2009). Sara is currently showing Narok, a 1997 Swedish Warmblood gelding at I-1 and Intermediate Freestyle, preparing Elita (Idocus x Leelita- Beaujoails) , one of J-Bar's KWPN foals for her first show season, and is attending law school at the University of Akron.  Sara is a USDF Bronze & Silver medalist and USDF L Graduate.

In 2002, Horse Sense, the Summit County 4-H Saddle Horse club was founded.

J-Bar's breeding program was revived in 2004 with the birth of Tuff Up Chocoholic to one of our founding mares (Chipaholic x BJS Tuff Muffin). His first foals were born in 2008 and are showing much promise to be show horses like their parents. J-Bar strives to produce calm, sensible pleasure horses that are safe for children and able to alternate roles between school horse and show horse. So far, the new generation is proving they have the quality minds, temperament, and performance that the older generation of J-Bar's foals have shown throughout their lives.
